Program of the "Long Night of Culture"

23.08.2021

Hip hop, harbor rally and bicycle cinema - the "Long Night of Culture" comes and it may be long. The German Maritime Museum (DSM) / Leibniz Institute for Maritime History celebrates Saturday, September 4, with a packed program for night owls, culture vultures and families. Admission and participation in the program are free starting at 5 p.m. As every year, donation boxes will be available for a personal contribution. The colorful program will appeal to families, film as well as dance fans and, of course, ship-lovers.

On the grounds and in the museum, it will be colorful and lively on Saturday, September 4. The Cog Hall remains open until midnight, the ships until 8 pm. On this summer evening, the DSM will entice visitors with various activities that will delight young and old.

Between 5 pm and 8 pm, families can participate in the harbor rally. Questionnaires will be handed out at the Seamen's Arm during this time. The expedition leads across the harbor. On the way there will be puzzles and many a surprise will be uncovered.

At 8 p.m., a guided tour of the Old Port will also start at the Seamen's Arm. Participants will explore the grounds of the museum harbor and look at ships, buildings and exhibits that bear traces of technical developments and historical events in the history of shipping. The walk leads to unique originals - from the DIVA to the smokestack of the OTTO HAHN.

"Film off" is the motto from 9 p.m. at the Seamen's Arm. The bike cinema of Bremen BIKE IT! will stop at the DSM and invites you to maritime short films under the open sky, flickering directly from the cargo bike projector.

In the evening, the FRAME at the extension building will be turned into a stage: At 9:30 p.m., the dancers of the Beer dance school will perform in the illuminated installation and present an instruction for the performance of the well-known Wellerman song. From 10:30 p.m., basses boom from the speakers and the young hip-hoppers show what they can do.
