THE COG

-

The centrepiece of our museum is the Bremer KOGGE from 1380. It was found in a spectacular way, restored for a long time and now stands freely in the collection. The wreck remains an object of research that science inspects closely. Be close too and explore the best-preserved merchant ship of the Middle Ages and the permanent exhibition from home under "Google Arts and Culture".

COG MET PLAYMOBIL

-

Our exhibition "KOGGE meets PLAYMOBIL - The story of a ship retold" may be history, but thanks to the web special, the colourful figures and memories of the show are just a click away. To the web special.

A project within the framework of the Leibniz Research Museums Action Plan.

360° POLARSTERN

-

Would you like to experience research shipping up close, look over the shoulders of the researchers and take a look in the galley of the POLARSTERN? Then come on board. The 360° POLARSTERN exhibition makes all levels of the icebreaker visible, which set off in 2019 on the most important Arctic expedition of all time. You can find the 360-degree videos from the exhibition on our museum's YouTube channel.

POLARSTERN-APP

-

Be on board the POLARSTERN once and discover the research ship to the centimetre - you don't have to be part of the research team for that, you just need a mobile phone and an urge to explore. Thanks to the POLARSTERN app, the icebreaker can be viewed in detail as a 3D model from the bridge to the engine room. The app can be downloaded from the Playstore and Appstore.

RESEARCH AT HOME

-

Tinkering, investigating and understanding the environment in a playful way - that's what our experiments are all about. Curious people will learn amazing things about climate change and geological processes from the short films. And they take away ideas on how to repeat the experiment at home. About the experiments.

VIRTUAL TO DSM TREASURES

DIGITAL EXHIBITION "MAPS KNOW THE SEA" AND NEW PUBLICATION

-

The world formed a unity on the seas. The digital exhibition "Karten Wissen Meer: Globalisierung vom Wasser aus" ("Map Knowledge of the Sea: Globalization from the Water") shows how cartography of the seas has contributed to making global interrelationships observable and comprehensible. The new publication "Karten-Reisen" also provides in-depth information on the topic.

DIGITAL INTOXICATION

-

The drugs of the 18th century included substances that we now buy quite legally in the supermarket: Coffee, cocoa and tobacco. The exhibition about the narcotics of yesteryear takes interested visitors back to the 16th century - and with state-of-the-art technology. Students wrote a digital diary in which, for example, an apothecary and a coffee house owner report on how the consumption of cocoa and co. used to be. Another class created a digital map that shows the journey of the luxury foodstuffs from their home countries to European ports. more
