The Board of Trustees - initiator of the idea of establishing a German Maritime Museum in Bremerhaven and one of the four founders of the museum

The aim of the board of trustees is to ensure the preservation and expansion of the museum. To this end, it provides support in the scientific, museum and technical fields as well as in the acquisition and purchase of exhibits

Many exhibits worth well over one million euros were transferred by the board of trustees and several exhibits were made available on loan. It has a seat and vote on the board of trustees of the Research Museum. Its members receive the following benefits:

- Offers its members and their relatives free entry to the museum and the museum ships (except for the submarine WILHELM BAUER)

- Allows its members to take exclusive glimpses behind the scenes of the museum on special occasions

- Informs its members about the activities of the museum as well as about research and exhibitions through the biannual magazine "Deutsche Schiffahrt" of the Förderverein Deutsches Schiffahrtsmuseum e.V.

- Offers its members a 10% discount on the purchase of the publications published by the German Maritime Museum when purchased or ordered at the museum
