Site assessment at the Old Port - compass rose

The compass rose - or compass rose - in the outdoor area of the German Maritime Museum is one of the largest of its kind: it has a diameter of 17 metres and is paved with stones into the ground near the playground. The distances (as the crow flies) to forty port cities can be read on the perimeter. The exact geographical location is indicated in the middle: 53° 32' 26'' north latitude and 008° 34' 50'' east longitude. The Board of Trustees for the promotion of the DSM has donated this compass rose, which is "accessible" to everyone
