Your knowledge counts!

Be a part of it – Join in!

There's a lot of maritime knowledge in the coastal city of Bremerhaven. This knowledge is important – for us and for all who come to visit us. School children, citizen scientists, contemporary witnesses and other interested parties are all involved in various projects, clubs and events on and around the themes of our German Maritime Museum. We warmly thank all those who are committed to our museum in this or other ways, and invite everyone else to join in and become part of the community. Please feel free to contact us.

Ships' Data List Working Circle (AK Schiffsdatenliste)

The working circle is composed of specialists for shipping technology and interested amateurs. The goal is the development and extension of a collection of descriptions of various ship types in a digital data archive.

History Workshop

The History Workshop aims at allowing citizens to participate in the exhibition via interviews on specific themes with their own personal memories. The History Workshop takes place at irregular intervals. Please watch out for our invitations in this regard in the daily newspapers and on our homepage.

GRÖNLAND crew

The crew of the northern sailing ship GRÖNLAND is made up of people who are interested in sailing and in maritime research, and who have some hand-working skills. The goal is to keep the GRÖNLAND in good sailing condition so that the object itself and the knowledge of its handling are preserved.

See the crew's own website.

Inclusion advisory committee

The German Maritime Museum's Inclusion Advisory Committee aims to provide us with guidance in connection with barrier-free access to the exhibition in a way specific to the various target groups.  With suggestions and recommendations, those personally affected and their support persons have already participated in the conception phase of improved access to the exhibition for the public.
