Programm for kindergardens and schools

Free offers for kindergarden groups

Kindergarden groups or children up to the age of 6 years have long had free admission to the museum. Thanks to the support of the „Förderverein Deutsches Schiffahrtsmuseum e.V." kindergarden groups can also take advantage of museum education services for free.

Children are eager to discover, they are curious about their environment and want to understand it. To immerse themselves in the maritime world, the German Maritime Museum offers a stimulating environment with its ships and objects. Supervised by a museum educator, the children's group explores the museum and thus learns about different aspects of shipping. Our offers are designed according to the principle of active and exploratory learning - an interplay of observation and action.

Come on board on the Kogge - time travel to the middle ages

In the Middle Ages there were not only knights and castles, but also shipbuilders and sailors. Using the example of our cog we show the everyday life of these people: What were ships made of and what were they built with? What clothes and food were common? To familiarize children with the museum, we recommend two, ideally three visits. Our programmes do not build directly on each other, so that only one offer can be chosen. We are happy to receive registrations up to 14 days in advance.

  •     The programme lasts 45 minutes and is suitable for children aged 4 and over.
  •     Maximum group size: 15 children. From the 16th child onwards the group is divided.
  •     Pedagogical escorts have free admission.
