Within the framework of the "Joint Appointment", the function of the Executive Director of the German Maritime Museum/Leibniz Institute of Maritime History is accompanied by the cooperative professorship in the fields of maritime history and maritime archaeology. As one of more than 40 cooperative professorships within the framework of the "University Bremen Research Alliance" (UBRA), it is a sign of scientific cooperation and institutional integration between the University of Bremen and the non-university research institutions in Bremen as a centre of science.
